“If only I had finished my IBM Data Science Professional Certificate on time…”
Peter said this to himself for the third time that week.
A certificate is not a career, a course is not a roadmap, and watching 200 tutorials is not the same as knowing what to learn next. If you're stuck in ‘tutorial hell,’ you don't need more information — you need direction: a sequenced path showing what to learn first, what depends on what, which certifications matter, and what to build to prove it. That's exactly what a career roadmap gives you.
Peter was a data enthusiast living in a developing country. He had done what everyone told him to do. He got his bachelor’s degree.
Then he decided to take his career seriously.
“𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁.”
Simple enough. Or so he thought.
So Peter went to YouTube.
He watched videos titled:
▶️: “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝟯 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀.”
▶️: “𝟭𝟬 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲.”
▶️: “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗮 $𝟭𝟬𝟬𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯.”
And before long, Peter had 47 tabs open.
Python.
SQL.
Machine Learning.
Statistics.
Excel.
Power BI.
Deep Learning.
Cloud Computing.
Git.
Docker.
...
Portfolio projects.
Certifications.
Each person had a different opinion. Each roadmap had a different starting point. And somehow, every video made him feel like he was already behind.
Until one day… Peter found a professional certificate on Coursera.
“𝗔𝗵𝗮!” he thought.
“This is it.”
If he could just complete this certificate, everything would finally make sense.
He imagined updating his LinkedIn. Adding the shiny badge to his CV. Sending out applications.
Recruiters discovering his profile.
Remote job.
Dollar salary.
Soft life.
But he was wrong. That was only one piece of the puzzle.
The truth is…
A certificate is not a career.
A course is not a roadmap.
And watching 200 YouTube videos is not the same as knowing what to learn next.
Peter didn’t need 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻... He needed 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
He needed to see the bigger picture.

3️⃣ What skills actually depend on other skills?
4️⃣ Which courses are worth taking?
5️⃣ Which certifications make sense for my career path?
6️⃣ What projects should I build to prove I can actually do the work?
And most importantly…
7️⃣ What should I do next?
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗩𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽𝘀.
Your career shouldn’t depend on which YouTube video the algorithm decides to show you next.
